Background
It all started with my high school yearbook, where I began learning Adobe Photoshop and Indesign. I fell in love with finding stories finding the best ways to make them visually appealing on the page.
Fast forward over a decade later, and I can proudly say that I have worked for a multitude of newspapers, magazines, and businesses as a professional UX / graphic designer, editor and columnist.
I have been internationally honored with an Award of Excellence in 2015 with the Society for News Design in the category of Print & Digital News.
I have also been recognized with multiple state-wide awards by the Tennessee Press Association, including first place in “2014 Make-Up and Appearance” and second place in “2014 Best Special Issue or Section,” “2014 Community Lifestyles” and “2014 Best Graphics and/or Illustrations.”
In 2015, I switched gears from the news industry to expand my print media skills by working as both graphic designer and pre-press coordinator for an offset / large format printing company.
In 2017, I left the comforts of a traditional 9-5 job and started freelancing full time.
Entrepreneurship
Today I focus my efforts on freelancing both independently and in collaboration with Morgan Media, LLC, where my team of designers and I take on contract-based projects for companies of all shapes and sizes — from small locally-owned businesses to large government corporations. In 2020, I co-started a regional travel blog, which receives 6 million page views each year.
Since then, I have launched two additional blogs, another regional travel blog (HeyOrlando.com) and a hobby-focused blog (BoardGameChick.com).
Education
I graduated cum laude from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Digital Media.
I studied and received a certification for User Interface Design on Coursera (via the University of Minnesota) to combine the two concentrations from my degree to make good designs even better with research-based methods.
